Who really made that windshield or
tempered part?

|
For example, Guardian makes several OEM
windshields for Chrysler. They have the Safeguard logo, but are
labeled with Guardian's DOT #22. I have seen Safegurad with
DOT # 46 Crinamex and DOT 18 PPG. Throughout the years many
manufacturers have made auto glass for others. LOF and PPG has
made parts for Carlite, Viracon has made parts for LOF, and PPG
makes parts for Chrysler, just to name a few. I replaced a
windshield recently that LOF brand but was made by Crinamex with
DOT 46.
To find your DOT numbers on
your windshield look in either the lower center, left or right
corner of your windshield. Their is a stamp that is usually
in black or a grayish/white color and this is called the
Bug. The Bug is usually about a one inch square that the
manufacturer uses to put their logo and DOT number. Write
these numbers down and then go to the link below to find out the
manufacture of your windshield or vehicle glass.
